FAMILY LAW

Attorney Winston’s experience in Family Law began when he served as a law clerk for the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court. During the clerkship, Jim worked in all four of the Probate and Family Courts in western Massachusetts, working directly for all of the judges that hear family law related cases in Northampton, Springfield, Pittsfield, and Greenfield.

Attorney Winston’s practice includes handling a variety of cases involving divorces, child support, complaints for modification and contempts. There is never a charge for the initial consultation.

EMPLOYMENT LAW

Attorney Winston practices in the area of Employment Law, and has handled cases at the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, as well as Superior Court, involving claims of sexual harassment, pregnancy, and gender discrimination, as well as claims centering on race discrimination, age discrimination, and disability discrimination. Attorney Winston is also a member of the Massachusetts Employment Lawyers Association.

Attorney Winston has lectured on the topic of employment law to business owners.

SOCIAL SECURITY APPEALS (SSDI & SSI Cases)

Attorney Winston has helped many claimants receive the benefits that they deserve from the Social Security Administration. Whether it is an appeal of a denial of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits, or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits, Attorney Winston has brought cases before all the Administrative Law Judges that regularly hear cases in Hampden County. All appeals taken by the James B. Winston Law Office will be based on a Statutory contingency fee agreement.
